Skin rejuvenation
IPL
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) skin treatments using the photorejuvenation process represent a breakthrough in age-defying skin care. This new technique treats skin damage non-invasively, there is no disruption of the skin’s epidermal surface. IPL treatments address the effects of photoaging and sun damage with low risk of complications and little recovery time.
IPL is the gold standard for photorejuvenation. This FDA-cleared, patented technology provides dramatic results for a variety of benign conditions, including age spots, sun-induced freckles, symptoms of rosacea, and other blemishes. Face lifts and other surgical procedures are far too invasive for younger patients and “baby boomers” who simply want to revitalize their appearance without recovery downtime.
Melanage Skin Lightening System
The Melanage Skin Lightening system is a superficial peel designed to improve the texture and appearance of hyperpigmented skin which involves a medicated masque and an at-home regimen. Melanage is applied during an office visit where it is compounded freshly by our professional Estheticians to ensure its potency and reliability. The masque is removed by the patient after a required length of time depending on their skin type, then followed by an easy-to-follow, but strict, at-home regimen. Results will vary but generally patients will see a significant improvement in the appearance of pigmented areas. Dark spots will lighten and skin texture and tone will improve, while also receiving the benefit of stimulation of collagen production, diminishment of fine lines, pigmentation and best of all is safe to use on all skin types. Especially ideal for ethnic skin types that are usually not candidates for lasers or other light therapies.
Micro-Dermabrasion
Micro-dermabrasion is a non-surgical, non-invasive process that offers safe and controlled skin abrasion. This procedure utilizes micro-crystals of a high medical grade, which are propelled at a high speed across the skin's surface to abrade the skin's tissue causing cell renewal and collagen regrowth. Debris and used crystals are vacuumed into a sealed waste container, which is then disposed. This technique, also known as "The Lunch-time Peel" by Vogue and Elle, is performed on an outpatient basis, is very quick, relatively painless and results are seen immediately. There is no downtime and no side effects. The latest cell renewal and collagen regrowth technique available using abrasion micro-crystals to create a vibrant, healthy, rejuvenated appearance.
Pedi-Dermabrasion
Our Pedi-dermabrason is a combination of a microdermabrasion and a body chemical peel applied to the feet. Micro-dermabrasion is a non-surgical and controlled skin abrasion procedure done to remove dead skin. This procedure utilizes micro-crystals of a high medical grade, which are propelled at a high speed across the skin’s surface to abrade the skins tissue exfoliating the rough callused areas. A chemical is then applied to further the exfoliation of the skin, resulting in smother, softer, touchable skin.
Chemical Peels
Superficial Chemical Peel
Alpha-hydroxy Acids: These mild peeling agents act as a deep exfoliant, removing the dead cells from the surface of the skin and accelerating the maturation of the remaining live cells. The aim is to make the skin smoother to the touch and more lustrous in appearance. The most commonly used acids are lactic acid, glycolic acid and citric acid. Alpha-hydroxy acid (in concentrations of less than 10 percent) are used in cosmetic preparations; in concentrations of 10-70 percent, as skin peeling agents. In antiquity, women often bathed themselves in sour milk in hope of softening and smoothing the skin. Perhaps they understood intuitively that sour milk contains lactic acid, now used for the same purpose.
“Mid-Depth” Medium Strength Chemical Peel
The most common medium strength agent is trichoroacetic acid (“TCA”). Typically used in concentrations between 15 and 30 percent, TCA, a strong acid, destroys the epidermis (outer layer of skin) and penetrates into the dermis (deeper skin). As a result, it stimulates the formation of new, fresh skin that is richer in collagen and elastic fibers, and is more taut with fewer wrinkles. TCA has been used by experienced practitioners for many years. This process of skin rejuvenation may take five to seven days of “down time” after which the skin is extremely sensitive to the effects of the sun and therefore, a comprehensive skin program emphasizing sun protection is mandatory.
